I have been working as a freelancer for a long time, about 14 years. I am not a freelance “guru” or the one who has the authority to write about freelance jobs. I only want to share the experience I have had through the years.
I was in charge of the technology of a marketing company for about 4 years and all of a sudden, I was told by a guy, other than the manager whom I reported, “today is your last day, sorry”. Since then I continued working as a freelancer until today.
Probably, what I lived is a copy of what you have also lived or still live. I am referring to search for jobs on a daily basis. Not any job, but a remote freelance job since you became tired to have a regular job, a 9 to 5 job, where your boss was breathing over your shoulders.
Many days I “scanned” about 1,000 jobs without a break, so I ended exhausted. Sometimes it was not easy to find remote freelance jobs because many of them were regular jobs or W-4 jobs. If you accept a W-4 position you become an employee through a contract.
